To Rococo Rot continue to bridge the gap between abstract electronica and left-field dance collaborating with US based DJ I-Sound for Music Is A Hungry Ghost. Also know as Craig Willingham, I-Sound's techno and hip-hop breaks have helped the German trio to produce a provocative art-house record that is avant-garde without being tuneless, intelligent without being impenetrable. The trademark warmth of To Rococo Rot's music is evident on tracks such as the beautifully contemplative "From Dream To Daylight". Stefan Schneider's basslines drive the pieces forward, while at other times an intimate production allows the complexities of the pieces room to breathe and weave their effects. Since their first release on Kitty-Yo the band have released two further critically acclaimed albums on the ever-cool City Slang label Veiculo and the excellent The Amateur View and by here pooling resources with I-Sound they have improved on their claim to being absolutely essential. --Mark Thwaite
